What drives the number up or down in Indy
Square footage sets your starting point. Beyond that, a few things particular to Indianapolis nudge your flat rate to one end of the band or the other:
- The carry. A century-old Northside two-story with a tight staircase eats more crew time than a single-level build in Greenwood you can back the truck right up to. A converted downtown loft or a Fountain Square walk-up adds a real carry before anything even reaches the truck. We never bill by the stair, but the climb and the distance to the curb shape the flat rate.
- Where you sit relative to I-465. A move that stays inside the loop reads differently than one running out past Noblesville or down to Franklin. Drive time and mileage are already folded into your quote, not added later.
- New-build square footage. The bigger custom homes filling Carmel and Fishers subdivisions simply hold more, so they ask for more hands and more hours than the listing photos suggest.

Timing your move for a lower rate
- January through March. Nobody moves in deep winter, so this is when our rates bottom out and the schedule is wide open. Just have salt and a shovel ready for the driveway.
- April and May. Prices start to nudge up as spring lands, and yes, Race-month traffic in May is a thing, but weekdays still book without a fight.
- June through August. The peak. Lease ends, school breaks, and job relocations all stack on top of each other. Give us two to three weeks of lead time.
- September and October. The rush thins out and the weather is about as good as moving weather gets. A sweet spot.
- November and December. Slow apart from the holidays themselves. Solid rates as long as you keep an eye on the ice in the forecast.

Where does the flat number on my quote actually come from?
We weigh your inventory (rooms, specialty pieces, box count), both addresses (distance, stairs, elevator, parking), and the time of year. Send the form or give us a call and a written quote comes back within one business hour. Whatever that quote says is what you pay.
Will I get hit with hidden fees?
No. The flat rate already carries the truck, fuel, the crew, pads, dollies, shrink wrap, runners, and hand tools — nothing on that list is a line item later. The one thing that moves it is if the actual inventory on move day is far bigger than what you described.
Is a weekday move cheaper?
Generally, yes. Tuesday through Thursday tends to come in a bit under a Saturday, and we keep more crew open midweek.
Which stretch of the calendar is easiest on the budget?
January through March, with the fall off-season a close second. Flexible dates outside the summer and month-end crush land you the best rates.
